General Summary
  • Responsible for the scheduling, execution, oversight, and assessment of schedule, equipment, and air operations.
Major Duties
  • Develops and manages the ground and flight scheduling processes and approves the daily training schedule.
  • Utilizes waivers and decision-making authorities in accordance with College of Aviation procedures and manuals to direct the execution of the daily flight, simulator, and ground training schedule.
  • Responsible for achieving flight hour goals and revenue targets.
  • Monitors and collaborates with fleet maintenance to ensure availability of aircraft.
  • Creates analytic tools to assess flight training operations, student scheduling progress, student and instructor financial status, and flight operations budget. Provides routine reports to all key stakeholders within the College of Aviation.
  • Creates, coordinates, and manages the student registration processes for flight lab courses and flight block assignments.
  • Develops and manages flight operations center oversight and management procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.
  • Five years’ relevant experience.
  • Experience of flight operations or complex integrated processes.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Experience with public speaking.
  • Private Pilot certification or greater.
  • Ability to occasionally work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with WMU enterprise systems.
  • Flight operations experience as a dispatcher, planner, or controller.
  • Experience working airfield operations and/or coordinating with airfield authorities.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field from accredited institution or 10+ years of aviation experience as a Captain and/or Instructor pilot, or flight operations.
  • FAA certification such as Commercial Pilot Certificate, Certified Flight Instructor, Multiengine Instructor and/or Dispatcher Certificate
