Role Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Flight Dispatcher to join our team and provide 24/7 operational support under the supervision of the Manager of the OCC. The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating and implementing the Operational Flight Plan, conducting Operational Flight Watch, and assisting the flight crew in ensuring the safe conduct of each flight. This position is integral to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all flight movements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Flight Planning: Develop, review, authorize, and revise Operational Flight Plans for all scheduled and non-scheduled flights, in line with safety, regulatory, customer service, and fiscal requirements.
- Flight Crew Support: Provide the Pilot-in-Command with comprehensive and professional flight crew briefings when necessary, highlighting any significant information impacting flight operations.
- Flight Documentation: Produce, file, and communicate Flight Plans with Air Traffic Control (ATC) and ensure flight documentation is sent and verified, including post-flight folders
- Flight Monitoring: Conduct Operational Flight Watch, monitoring changes in operational and meteorological conditions that may affect flight safety and communicate updates to the PIC and Duty Pilot.
- Operational Analysis: Analyze operational conditions to identify constraints or opportunities and determine the safest and most efficient fuel requirements
- Flight Coordination: Coordinate with stations and flight commanders for the movements of flights at outstations to ensure smooth operations.
- Flight Progress Tracking: Capture and monitor real-time flight progress for assigned flights, ensuring that all flight movement information is current and accurate.
- Irregular Operations: Work with internal stakeholders to manage delays and assist in restoring schedules during irregular operations.
- Communication & Updates: Monitor and update flight operation messages and ensure accurate and current flight-related data in the Flight Dispatch system.
- Duty Manager Functions: Perform Duty Manager duties when assigned by the Manager, OCC.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of high school certification or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years in a Flight Dispatch environment, combined with a completed and approved Flight Dispatch Course; OR
- At least 5 years of experience in Flight Dispatch and/or Operations Control Department.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluent in both verbal and written English.
- Familiarity with Flight Planning Systems. Proficiency in PPS and Leon will be an added advantage
