What the position is: 

The Base Manager is directly supervising and coordinating Line Maintenance functions in the respective maintenance base and reports to the Director of Base Maintenance.

Essential functions:

  • Management of personnel, programs, policies, and procedures of the maintenance organization to ensure compliance with 14 CFR, airworthiness of aircraft, and a safe work environment
  • Oversee Airworthiness Release and Aircraft Flight/Maintenance Log entry process and recording requirements
  • Communicate with Maintenance Control / Planning and update the status on work in progress
  • Maintenance programs process
  • Ensure appropriate manuals, service bulletins and Airworthiness Directive (AD's) are available to support the assigned work
  • Ensure sufficient materials/tooling is available to support aircraft maintenance and alteration requirements
  • Oversee the parts and material control process, as well as tool calibration
  • Prepare detailed reports on accidents, equipment damage or damage to facilities to the Director of Maintenance and appropriate departments and make recommendations to prevent their reoccurrence
  • Monitor compliance with On the Job Training (OJT) for assigned personnel
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of maintenance personnel per CommutAir employee performance criteria, and provide feedback and guidance to achieve performance improvements
  • Monitor duty time requirements and limitations process
  • Update Computer systems with revised information as required
  • Comply with and update General Maintenance Manual (GMM) maintenance policies, procedures, content, and revisions
  • Ensure facility and equipment is in safe and proper working condition
  • Other assigned duties by the Director of Maintenance and VP of Maintenance

General requirements & qualifications:

  • Must hold a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate and required company authorizations
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge required to perform the duties of this position
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience as a certificated mechanic
  • Demonstrated positive attitude toward productivity, safety, and quality of maintenance
  • Hold a valid state-issued driver's license and government-issued passport with a driving record in good standing
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
  • Computer skills in MS Office and airline operations software
